Program Eligibility

Overview

Please complete the pre-admission form ​​ to help us determine your initial eligibility for the program. Follow the directions on the checklist to apply to the program or to have your checklist and/or transcripts reviewed.

Admission to the bachelor’s degree completion program in Health Science is based upon evaluation of each candidate’s academic record. ​​ 

​​​All applicants are required to meet the following requirements:​​ 

  • ​​​A grade point average of 2.0 or better
  • ​​​Completion of at least *60 transferable semester or 90 quarter units (70 semester units preferred)
  • ​​​Completion of all four CSU-approved General Education requirements with a grade of C or better: ​​ 
    • ​​​Oral Communication (A1) ​​ 
    • ​​​Written Communication (A2) ​​ 
    • ​​​Critical Thinking (A3) ​​ 
    • ​​​Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning (B4) ​​ 
  • ​​​Completion of the following pre-requisite courses: ​​ 
    • ​​​Chemistry ​​ 
    • ​​​Anatomy  ​​ 
    • ​​Physiology  
    • Note: a combination class of Anatomy/Physiology of at least ​​​​​five​​​​​​​ units will satisfy the above two course requirements.​​ ​​​ 
    • ​​​Statistics ​​ 
    • ​​Human Development over the Life span​​ ​​or Introduction to Psychology​​ ​​​ 
    • ​​​Introduction to Sociology  ​​ 
    • ​​​Health Science 1000 (Please review the ​​Health Science 1000 Equivalency Grid​​. If your institution is not listed on the table, please contact the Program Director, Mechelle Perea Rya​​​n​​​n ​​​​, at ​​​mperearyan@csustan.edu​​ for course equivalency. ​​ 

​​​If pursuing the Health Informatics and Data Analytics concentration (HIDA)​​, applicants are required to have completed the additional pre-requisite:​​ 

  • ​​​CIS 2000 ​​

​​​*Students applying to the program ​​​with​​​​​​​ fewer than 66 ​​​​​lower-division ​​​​​​transferable units for HLA or fewer than 68 lower-division transferable units for HIDA will have to take additional courses outside of this program. ​​
