Program Eligibility

Overview

In order to qualify for the ASBSN program, you must have earned a BA or BS from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline other than Nursing.

  • Please view the ASBSN Roadmap to determine your initial admissibility.

International Students: are required to take the TOEFL Exam for proficiency in spoken and written English with the following minimum TOEFL scores: 550 for the paper-based examination, 80 on Internet-based examination.

  • International Students are only exempted from the TOEFL Exam if they have completed a different college degree during their time in the U.S.
  • International pre-requisite courses cannot satisfy our pre-requisite requirements. International students must take pre-requisite course from a regional-accredited institution to satisfy our pre-requisite requirement.

Program Pre-Requisites

Regarding immunizations: While the University allows for medical and religious exemptions for some vaccines, most of our clinical facilities require nursing students to be fully vaccinated, including the Covid vaccination. While we attempt to accommodate exemptions, lack of vaccination may render the student unable to attend clinicals and thus will delay or stop their program completion.

Provided below are some tools and guidance that will help determine if the courses you took at your institution satisfy our pre-requisite requirement:

  1. Course Equivalence Grid – course agreement that only pertains to the following colleges:
  • Columbia College
  • Merced College
  • Modesto Junior College
  • San Joaquin Delta College
  1. Assist.org – course agreement for other colleges
  • Select your institution and CSU Stanislaus to see the course agreement between the two institutions.
  • Note that not all colleges are available on assist.org. In addition, not all colleges will have course agreement with CSU Stanislaus.
  1. General Guidance – if your college is not on assist.org, please use the below information to guide you in applying to our program:
  • Your courses will transfer over to our university/program as long as, your institution is regionally accredited.
  • The pre-requisite requirements are lower GE courses only.
  • We do not accept any substitutions, and we only accept the general and/or fundamental course for our pre-requisite requirements:

Example: the Introduction to Psychology requirement should be: Introduction to Psychology, Principles of Psychology, Psychology 1, Foundations of Psychology, Fundamental Psychology, and/or General Psychology. Each college name their courses differently, however, the theory here is that we only accept the general/fundamental (basic) course.
