The learning activities featured in this certificate focus on using an innovative maker space, the Warrior Fab Lab, a place designed for innovation through a variety of active learning experiences. Our digital fabrication lab boasts the latest tools, machines, software, and technology available to the entire Stan State community.
We’re open to all Stan State students, staff, and faculty members to create, learn, mentor, and invent. The Fab Lab has trained staff to help bring your ideas to life. The space is designed for a hands-on approach to cross-disciplinary studies and community building through analog and digital processes, whether for personal enrichment, research, teaching, or collaboration.
This certificate results in 2 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs).
Course Description
The Pedagogy of Innovation Professional Teaching Certificate focuses on helping educators redefine their practice through three key domains: makerspace technology, innovative practices, and the science of learning.
We aim to help teachers become makers and innovators while also developing pedagogy and practices for integration making and innovation into their PK-12 educators learning environments. Teachers can use digital fabrication technologies in schools to support learning through design and fabrication across any subject. This means that PK-12 students and educators are not learning ABOUT technology but learning THROUGH technology.
Course Modality
Face-to-face with asynchronous components. The course will be delivered through interactive lectures, group discussions, and practical exercises, allowing participants to apply their learning in real-world scenarios. The course will be a mix of synchronous and asynchronous sessions. By the end of this course, participants will be able to confidently navigate the complexities of both asynchronous and synchronous meetings, leading to more productive and engaging interactions within their teams.
