The CSU Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care, an institute
of the California State University,
partners with California State University San Marcos to offer
palliative care education for healthcare
professionals working in hospitals, hospice, home healthcare, and
other care settings. The Institute
believes healthcare professionals in primary care and serious
illness specialties should understand
how to provide primary palliative care. Its interdisciplinary
approach emphasizes physical,
emotional, psychological, and spiritual support for patients and
their families.
What is palliative care?
Palliative care is specialized, patient-centered care focused on
improving quality of life for people
facing serious illness and their families. It addresses physical,
emotional, and spiritual symptoms
through evidence-based therapies and a collaborative team
approach that supports patients.
